Cabin Fever

What to do when the boys are quite simply tired of being in the house...

Easton's 4-Month Visit

We had E's 4-month well-baby visit today and he appears to be right on track. Developmentally he is doing everything he should (no he is not rolling over yet), his ears look great (thank goodness, no tubes yet), and he is growing like a weed...literally! He is now 15lbs 4oz (57%) and 56% for head circumference. The big story is his height, he is now 26.75" tall which is the 95%!! We are hoping to make it to 6 months with his infant car seat, but more than likely that will be as far as we get. Just to put things into perspective, Cole was 25" at the same age. Think that whole idea of getting beat up by the big brother might soon be reversed in our house.

Our Week in Review

This is what poor E looked like last week. He seems to be feeling well again and we go in for his 4 month check on Tuesday. Keeping our fingers crossed that his ears have cleared up. He is still not rolling over, though getting really close!!

I got to stay home from work today and spent the morning finishing my first sewing project with my new machine. I started it last week when we first got the machine out, only to discover it was broken. So after exchanging it for a new one, I was able to get the stitching finished today. It turned out really cute if I do say so myself.
This afternoon we went to Kali, our Goddaughter's first birthday party. She wasn't really sure about the cake but seemed to love all the new toys!! Then we came home and started hanging some pictures back up since painting. I think we got four of them hung before E went back down for a nap and we had to stop again.

Cole seemed to think it was time to trick-or-treat again and asked to put on his spider costume. He paired it with the glasses from Kali's party and it was quite the outfit :)

Crafts and Rolling Over...almost

Yesterday, Chris and Cole were having a blast making newspaper hats and rocks to be scooped up in the tractor.

And I finally managed to get a couple pictures of Easton trying really hard to roll over. He has everything except his shoulders figured out, so we are just waiting patiently for the day he actually ends up on his belly. In other news, Easton's ears seem to be better. However, now he has managed to get thrush from so many antibiotics. So we once again have a purple baby...good thing we are well practiced in the treatment of thrush after Cole and I had it for almost two months straight!!

Happy Holidays 2009...a little late

Thought everyone might enjoy a look back at the 'Poutre Family Happenings 2009.' It's just a little later than I had hoped :-)

Tired of being sick...

Poor Easton came down with croup these past couple days, and then today got diagnosed with his second ear infection at the ripe old age of 3 months. One of his ears seems to have cleared up after the X-Mas double infections, but the right one is still pretty ugly according to the Dr. So, we have started a new antibiotic in hopes that it will do the trick. One more infection before he is 6 months old and we will be having tubes put in :-(
The good news for the day is that he now weighs a whopping 14lbs 9oz!!

Oh Christmas Tree...

In light of all the snow as of late, we just managed to get our tree and other decorations taken down. However, we had nowhere to put said tree after we got all the ornaments off as it has been subzero for a few days now and taking it to the recycle place was out of the question. So...

...it is sitting on the snow drift just outside our back door :)

In other news, we have been forced to come up with new ways of entertaining ourselves while stuck in the house watching even more snow fall. I will say the steering is a little touchy, especially with all three of us on it!!

In other happenings, we got to spend an ENTIRE day with Gina and Mark due to their flight our of Omaha getting canceled due to mechanical issues. It was not so good for them, but we certainly enjoyed their unplanned visit!! Unfortunately, we only managed to get the camera out once while they were here :(

Ear Infections, Christmas Cookies, and Daddy Time

Just a quick update on our latest news. Easton did in fact have double ear infections on Christmas, and seems to be feeling much better with the help of some antibiotics. His cough also seems to have gone away, so we are enjoying having our happy-go-lucky baby back. He has been doing great these past couple days and even managed to sleep from 8:30p-4a last night meaning I only had to get up once in the night!! I have forgotten what it feels like to get almost 7 hours of continuous sleep (yes, we were in bed shortly after 9 last night). All this after he sucked down a 9oz bottle yesterday while I was at work (usually he only takes 3-4oz)...good to know he is getting his 'Poutre appetite' back :)

We finally finished manged to bake our Christmas cookies today. The dough has been sitting in my fridge for almost a week now, and amazingly they turned out alright. I would post pictures, but they are little mice and they still need some eyes and noses to be complete. We will see if they actually get put on, or if they just get eaten the way they are.

In other news, Chris and the boys survived their first two days alone together this week. I had to work New Years as my holiday, so they were left to fend for themselves. Needless to say, Chris admitted he had a new found respect for me after taking both boys to Target by himself. However, they managed to get through 12 hours unharmed and everyone seemed in good spirits when I got home. Friday, they hung out at G-Ma & G-Pa Poutre's house, so I suppose he had some help. But I think they will be just fine in the future. It's great to not have to worry about them when I am at work :)

I think that's about it around here...now to continue work on the Christmas/Holiday letter I have yet to finish.
